Voting with the Graph: Stable RLAIF via Topological Consistency Maximization

arXiv:2510.15514v3 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Reinforcement Learning from AI Feedback (RLAIF) relies on LLM judges as preference measurement instruments, yet these instruments are fundamentally limited by random measurement errors -- stochastic fluctuations that manifest as preference cycles (e.g., $A \succ B \succ C \succ A$), occurring in 5-9% of evaluations across state-of-the-art models. While repeated sampling mitigates noise by averaging multiple judgments, it treats each comparison in isolation and fails to exploit the structural constraints that distinguish systematic signals from random noise. We introduce Topological Consensus Rewards (TCR), a framework that leverages transitivity as a denoising mechanism via topological majority voting: systematic signals reinforce each other through transitive chains, while random errors cluster into topologically exposed cycles. TCR approximates the Maximum Acyclic Subgraph to filter stochastic noise from preference signals. We also propose Cycle Incidence Rate (CIR) as a diagnostic metric that measures the proportion of samples containing preference cycles. Under our noise model, these cycles arise primarily from stochastic measurement errors rather than genuine intransitivity. Experiments on Arena-Hard, MT-Bench, and WritingBench demonstrate that TCR consistently outperforms pairwise baselines and classical ranking algorithms, while exhibiting robust performance across different judge models.

Why Attend to Everything? Focus is the Key

arXiv:2604.03260v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: We introduce Focus, a method that learns which token pairs matter rather than approximating all of them. Learnable centroids assign tokens to groups; distant attention is restricted to same-group pairs while local attention operates at full resolution. Because all model weights stay frozen, Focus is purely additive: centroid-only training (as few as 148K parameters) improves domain perplexity with zero degradation on downstream benchmarks--from 124M to 70B parameters, across five attention architectures. No existing efficient attention method achieves this in the retrofit setting. At 124M, Focus surpasses full attention (30.3 vs 31.4 PPL); trained from scratch at 7B scale (2B tokens), Focus again beats full attention (13.82 vs 13.89 PPL). At inference, restricting each token to its top-k highest-scoring groups discretizes the soft routing into a hard sparsity pattern, yielding 2x speedup while beating the pretrained baseline (41.3 vs 42.8 PPL); decomposing this pattern into two standard FlashAttention calls reaches 8.6x wall-clock speedup at 1M tokens with no custom kernels. Unlike LoRA, centroid routing preserves alignment: instruction-tuned models retain TruthfulQA scores after adaptation, while LoRA degrades at every learning rate and rank. Sinkhorn normalization enforces balanced groups as a hard constraint, and the resulting groups discover interpretable linguistic categories without supervision.

Agents for Agents: An Interrogator-Based Secure Framework for Autonomous Internet of Underwater Things

arXiv:2604.04262v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and sensor nodes increasingly support decentralized sensing and coordination in the Internet of Underwater Things (IoUT), yet most deployments rely on static trust once authentication is established, leaving long-duration missions vulnerable to compromised or behaviorally deviating agents. In this paper, an interrogator based structure is presented that incorporates the idea of behavioral trust monitoring into underwater multi-agent operation without interfering with autonomy. Privileged interrogator module is a passive communication metadata analyzer that uses a lightweight transformer model to calculate dynamic trust scores, which are used to authorize the forwarding of mission critical data. Suspicious agents cause proportional monitoring and conditional restrictions, which allow fast containment and maintain network continuity. The evidence of trust is stored in a permissioned blockchain consortium which offers identity management which is not tampered and is decentralized without causing the overhead of public consensus mechanisms. Simulation based analysis shows that the evaluation of the result compares to a relative improvement of 21.7% in the detection accuracy compared to the static trust baselines with limited energy overhead. These findings suggest that behavior driven validation has the capability of reinforcing underwater coordination without compromising scalability and deployment.

LatentChem: From Textual CoT to Latent Thinking in Chemical Reasoning

arXiv:2602.07075v4 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Chemical large language models (LLMs) predominantly rely on explicit Chain-of-Thought (CoT) in natural language to perform complex reasoning. However, chemical reasoning is inherently continuous and structural, and forcing it into discrete linguistic tokens introduces a fundamental representation mismatch that constrains both efficiency and performance. We introduce LatentChem, a latent reasoning interface that decouples chemical computation from textual generation, enabling models to perform multi-step reasoning directly in continuous latent space while emitting language only for final outputs. Remarkably, we observe a consistent emergent behavior: when optimized solely for task success, models spontaneously internalize reasoning, progressively abandoning verbose textual derivations in favor of implicit latent computation. This shift is not merely stylistic but computationally advantageous. Across diverse chemical reasoning benchmarks, LatentChem achieves a 59.88\% non-tie win rate over strong CoT-based baselines on ChemCoTBench, while delivering a 10.84$\times$ average reduction in reasoning overhead. Our results provide empirical evidence that chemical reasoning is more naturally and effectively realized as continuous latent dynamics rather than discretized linguistic trajectories.

MedXIAOHE: A Comprehensive Recipe for Building Medical MLLMs

arXiv:2602.12705v3 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: We present MedXIAOHE, a medical vision-language foundation model designed to advance general-purpose medical understanding and reasoning in real-world clinical applications. MedXIAOHE achieves state-of-the-art performance across diverse medical benchmarks and surpasses leading closed-source multimodal systems on multiple capabilities. To achieve this, we propose an entity-aware continual pretraining framework that organizes heterogeneous medical corpora to broaden knowledge coverage and reduce long-tail gaps (e.g., rare diseases). For medical expert-level reasoning and interaction, MedXIAOHE incorporates diverse medical reasoning patterns via reinforcement learning and tool-augmented agentic training, enabling multi-step diagnostic reasoning with verifiable decision traces. To improve reliability in real-world use, MedXIAOHE integrates user-preference rubrics, evidence-grounded reasoning, and low-hallucination long-form report generation, with improved adherence to medical instructions. We release this report to document our practical design choices, scaling insights, and evaluation framework, hoping to inspire further research.
