SelfGrader: Stable Jailbreak Detection for Large Language Models using Token-Level Logits

arXiv:2604.01473v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Large Language Models (LLMs) are powerful tools for answering user queries, yet they remain highly vulnerable to jailbreak attacks. Existing guardrail methods typically rely on internal features or textual responses to detect malicious queries, which either introduce substantial latency or suffer from the randomness in text generation. To overcome these limitations, we propose SelfGrader, a lightweight guardrail method that formulates jailbreak detection as a numerical grading problem using token-level logits. Specifically, SelfGrader evaluates the safety of a user query within a compact set of numerical tokens (NTs) (e.g., 0-9) and interprets their logit distribution as an internal safety signal. To align these signals with human intuition of maliciousness, SelfGrader introduces a dual-perspective scoring rule that considers both the maliciousness and benignness of the query, yielding a stable and interpretable score that reflects harmfulness and reduces the false positive rate simultaneously. Extensive experiments across diverse jailbreak benchmarks, multiple LLMs, and state-of-the-art guardrail baselines demonstrate that SelfGrader achieves up to a 22.66% reduction in ASR on LLaMA-3-8B, while maintaining significantly lower memory overhead (up to 173x) and latency (up to 26x).

SynLeaF: A Dual-Stage Multimodal Fusion Framework for Synthetic Lethality Prediction Across Pan- and Single-Cancer Contexts

arXiv:2603.22369v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Accurate prediction of synthetic lethality (SL) is important for guiding the development of cancer drugs and therapies. SL prediction faces significant challenges in the effective fusion of heterogeneous multi-source data. Existing multimodal methods often suffer from "modality laziness" due to disparate convergence speeds, which hinders the exploitation of complementary information. This is also one reason why most existing SL prediction models cannot perform well on both pan-cancer and single-cancer SL pair prediction. In this study, we propose SynLeaF, a dual-stage multimodal fusion framework for SL prediction across pan- and single-cancer contexts. The framework employs a VAE-based cross-encoder with a product of experts mechanism to fuse four omics data types (gene expression, mutation, methylation, and CNV), while simultaneously utilizing a relational graph convolutional network to capture structured gene representations from biomedical knowledge graphs. To mitigate modality laziness, SynLeaF introduces a dual-stage training mechanism employing featurelevel knowledge distillation with adaptive uni-modal teacher and ensemble strategies. In extensive experiments across eight specific cancer types and a pancancer dataset, SynLeaF achieves superior performance in 17 out of 19 scenarios. Ablation studies and gradient analyses further validate the critical contributions of the proposed fusion and distillation mechanisms to model robustness and generalization. daVinci-Env: Open SWE Environment Synthesis at Scale

arXiv:2603.13023v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Training capable software engineering (SWE) agents demands large-scale, executable, and verifiable environments that provide dynamic feedback loops for iterative code editing, test execution, and solution refinement. However, existing open-source datasets remain limited in scale and repository diversity, while industrial solutions are opaque with unreleased infrastructure, creating a prohibitive barrier for most academic research groups. We present OpenSWE, the largest fully transparent framework for SWE agent training in Python, comprising 45,320 executable Docker environments spanning over 12.8k repositories, with all Dockerfiles, evaluation scripts, and infrastructure fully open-sourced for reproducibility. OpenSWE is built through a multi-agent synthesis pipeline deployed across a 64-node distributed cluster, automating repository exploration, Dockerfile construction, evaluation script generation, and iterative test analysis. Beyond scale, we propose a quality-centric filtering pipeline that characterizes the inherent difficulty of each environment, filtering out instances that are either unsolvable or insufficiently challenging and retaining only those that maximize learning efficiency. With $891K spent on environment construction and an additional $576K on trajectory sampling and difficulty-aware curation, the entire project represents a total investment of approximately $1.47 million, yielding about 13,000 curated trajectories from roughly 9,000 quality guaranteed environments. Extensive experiments validate OpenSWE's effectiveness: OpenSWE-32B and OpenSWE-72B achieve 62.4% and 66.0% on SWE-bench Verified, establishing SOTA among Qwen2.5 series. Moreover, SWE-focused training yields substantial out-of-domain improvements, including up to 12 points on mathematical reasoning and 5 points on science benchmarks, without degrading factual recall.

Survey of Computerized Adaptive Testing: A Machine Learning Perspective

arXiv:2404.00712v3 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) offers an efficient and personalized method for assessing examinee proficiency by dynamically adjusting test questions based on individual performance. Compared to traditional, non-personalized testing methods, CAT requires fewer questions and provides more accurate assessments. As a result, CAT has been widely adopted across various fields, including education, healthcare, sports, sociology, and the evaluation of AI models. While traditional methods rely on psychometrics and statistics, the increasing complexity of large-scale testing has spurred the integration of machine learning techniques. This paper aims to provide a machine learning-focused survey on CAT, presenting a fresh perspective on this adaptive testing paradigm. We delve into measurement models, question selection algorithm, bank construction, and test control within CAT, exploring how machine learning can optimize these components. Through an analysis of current methods, strengths, limitations, and challenges, we strive to develop robust, fair, and efficient CAT systems. By bridging psychometric-driven CAT research with machine learning, this survey advocates for a more inclusive and interdisciplinary approach to the future of adaptive testing.

SHE: Stepwise Hybrid Examination Reinforcement Learning Framework for E-commerce Search Relevance

arXiv:2510.07972v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Query-product relevance prediction is a foundational technology in e-commerce search engines and has become increasingly important in AI-driven e-commerce. The recent emergence of LLMs, particularly their CoT reasoning capabilities, offers promising opportunities for developing relevance systems that are both more interpretable and more robust. However, existing training paradigms have notable limitations: SFT and DPO suffer from poor generalization on long-tail queries and from a lack of fine-grained, stepwise supervision to enforce rule-aligned reasoning. In contrast, reinforcement learning with verification rewards (RLVR) suffers from sparse feedback, which provides insufficient signal to correct erroneous intermediate steps, thereby undermining logical consistency and limiting performance in complex inference scenarios. To address these challenges, we introduce the Stepwise Hybrid Examination Reinforcement Learning framework for search relevance (SHE). At its core is Stepwise Reward Policy Optimization (SRPO), a reinforcement learning algorithm that leverages step-level rewards generated by a hybrid of a high-quality generative stepwise reward model and a human-annotated offline verifier, prioritizing learning from critical correct and incorrect reasoning steps. To bolster robustness and generalization, SHE further integrates a dual-strategy optimization: diversified data filtering, which broadens the exploration of reasoning trajectories to preempt policy entropy collapse, and a multi-stage curriculum learning protocol that systematically orchestrates progressive capability acquisition. Extensive experiments on real-world search benchmarks show that SHE improves both reasoning quality and relevance-prediction accuracy in large-scale e-commerce settings, outperforming SFT, DPO, GRPO, and other baselines, while also enhancing interpretability and robustness.

Feature Recalibration Based Olfactory-Visual Multimodal Model for Fine-Grained Rice Deterioration Detection

arXiv:2602.14408v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Multimodal methods are widely used in rice deterioration detection, which exhibit limited capability in representing and extracting fine-grained abnormal features. Moreover, these methods rely on devices, such as hyperspectral cameras and mass spectrometers, increasing detection costs and prolonging data acquisition time. To address these issues, we propose a feature recalibration based olfactory-visual multimodal model for fine-grained rice deterioration detection. The fine-grained deterioration embedding constructor (FDEC) is proposed to reconstruct the labeled multimodal embedded-feature dataset, enhancing sample representation. The fine-grained deterioration recalibration attention network (FDRA-Net) is proposed to emphasize signal variations and increase sensitivity to fine-grained deterioration on the rice surface. Experiments show that the proposed method achieves a classification accuracy of 99.89%. Compared with state-of-the-art methods, the detection accuracy is improved and the procedure is simplified. Furthermore, field detection demonstrates the advantages of accuracy and operational simplicity. The proposed method can also be extended to other agrifood in agriculture and food industry.
