Inhaled nanosilica orchestrates a pulmonary macrophage-NK cell axis for memory-like NK programming toward synergistic cancer immunotherapy

Yuan and colleagues demonstrate that inhaled biodegradable nanosilica activates an alveolar macrophage–NK axis, triggering an IL-12/15/18 triad that programs memory-like NK cells. This non-fibrotic, cell-free strategy suppresses melanoma growth, prevents postsurgical recurrence, and synergizes with anti-PD-1, establishing a robust framework for in vivo NK cell immunotherapy.

RiLM: Parameter-Efficient Language Modeling via Geodesic Decoding

arXiv:2609.10305v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Language models under one million parameters matter for edge deployment, domain adaptation, and reproducible research, yet a two-layer LSTM or Transformer at embedding width d = 128 still spends roughly one third of its capacity on the output matrix W_out in R^(d x |V|). We propose Riemannian Language Models (RiLM), which remove that layer entirely: context unfolds as a trajectory on a Riemannian manifold, and next-token probabilities arise from squared geodesic distance between the current state and vocabulary embeddings. The same embedding map serves input and output -- decoding is geometry. We instantiate the framework on flat R^d (Flat RiLM) and the Poincare ball H^d (HypRiLM) with a shared MLP composition map phi (~290k parameters, d = 128, |V| = 2000). Across five seeds on WikiText-2, HypRiLM reaches 54.2 +/- 0.2 validation perplexity versus 87.6 +/- 0.6 for Flat RiLM; tied and matched LSTM, Transformer, and SSM controls remain at 113-147 PPL on WT-2 -- HypRiLM leads by roughly 2x over the strongest tied recurrent baseline (SSM, 113.0 +/- 3.8). Penn Treebank and a 10k-vocabulary stress test confirm that geodesic decoding transfers across corpora and larger |V|, while hyperbolic curvature helps selectively. We also characterize boundary collapse in naive hyperbolic recurrence and show how Mobius stabilization restores trainability. Claims are scoped to controlled small-model comparisons, not full-vocabulary state of the art.

Stabilizing Unsupervised Self-Evolution of MLLMs via Continuous Softened Retracing reSampling

arXiv:2604.03647v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: In the unsupervised self-evolution of Multimodal Large Language Models, the quality of feedback signals during post-training is pivotal for stable and effective learning. However, existing self-evolution methods predominantly rely on majority voting to select the most frequent output as the pseudo-golden answer, which may stem from the model's intrinsic biases rather than guaranteeing the objective correctness of the reasoning paths. To counteract the degradation, we propose \textbf{C}ontinuous \textbf{S}oftened \textbf{R}etracing re\textbf{S}ampling (\textbf{CSRS}) in MLLM self-evolution. Specifically, we introduce a Retracing Re-inference Mechanism (\textbf{RRM}) that the model re-inferences from anchor points to expand the exploration of long-tail reasoning paths. Simultaneously, we propose Softened Frequency Reward (\textbf{SFR}), which replaces binary rewards with continuous signals, calibrating reward based on the answers' frequency across sampled reasoning sets. Furthermore, incorporated with Visual Semantic Perturbation (\textbf{VSP}), CSRS ensures the model prioritizes mathematical logic over visual superficiality. Experimental results demonstrate that CSRS significantly enhances the reasoning performance of Qwen2.5-VL-7B on benchmarks such as MathVision. We achieve state-of-the-art (SOTA) results in unsupervised self-evolution on geometric tasks. Our code is avaible at https://github.com/yyy195/CSRS.

Single-cell multiomics uncovers an endothelial mechanosensitive PIEZO1-IL-33 axis driving pulmonary fibrosis

Nat Commun. 2026 Mar 20;17(1):2655. doi: 10.1038/s41467-026-70193-w.

ABSTRACT

Pulmonary fibrosis represents a progressive interstitial lung disease marked by excessive extracellular matrix deposition and architectural distortion. Vascular endothelial cells critically contribute to fibrogenesis through paracrine secretion of pro-fibrotic mediators, yet their mechanobiological regulation remains elusive. Using integrated single-cell multi-omics profiling of human pulmonary fibrosis specimens and experimental fibrosis models induced by bleomycin or silica, we identify mechanosensitive Piezo1 upregulation in Endothelial cells as a hallmark of fibrotic progression. Endothelial-specific Piezo1 knockout significantly attenuates Bleomycin-induced fibrotic remodeling in male mice, establishing its pathogenic necessity. Mechanistically, PIEZO1 activation promotes pulmonary fibrosis development via CAPN2-mediated STAT3 phosphorylation, which may regulate the secretion of the pro-fibrotic molecule interleukin-33. These findings suggest that the endothelial PIEZO1-CAPN2-STAT3-IL33 axis is a potential therapeutic target for PF intervention.

LycheeCluster: Efficient Long-Context Inference with Structure-Aware Chunking and Hierarchical KV Indexing

arXiv:2603.08453v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: The quadratic complexity of the attention mechanism and the substantial memory footprint of the Key-Value (KV) cache present severe computational and memory challenges for Large Language Models (LLMs) processing long contexts. Existing retrieval-based methods often compromise semantic integrity through fixed-size chunking and suffer from inefficient linear scanning. In this paper, we propose LycheeCluster, a novel method for efficient KV cache management. LycheeCluster preserves local semantic coherence via boundary-aware chunking and constructs a recursive hierarchical index rooted in the triangle inequality. This design transforms cache retrieval from a linear scan into a theoretically bounded, logarithmic-time pruning process, while a lazy update strategy supports efficient streaming generation. Experiments demonstrate that LycheeCluster achieves up to a 3.6x end-to-end inference speedup with negligible degradation in model performance, outperforming state-of-the-art KV cache management methods (e.g., Quest, ClusterKV). We will release our code and kernels after publication.

Towards Effective and Efficient Graph Alignment without Supervision

arXiv:2603.08526v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Unsupervised graph alignment aims to find the node correspondence across different graphs without any anchor node pairs. Despite the recent efforts utilizing deep learning-based techniques, such as the embedding and optimal transport (OT)-based approaches, we observe their limitations in terms of model accuracy-efficiency tradeoff. By focusing on the exploitation of local and global graph information, we formalize them as the ``local representation, global alignment'' paradigm, and present a new ``global representation and alignment'' paradigm to resolve the mismatch between the two phases in the alignment process. We then propose \underline{Gl}obal representation and \underline{o}ptimal transport-\underline{b}ased \underline{Align}ment (\texttt{GlobAlign}), and its variant, \texttt{GlobAlign-E}, for better \underline{E}fficiency. Our methods are equipped with the global attention mechanism and a hierarchical cross-graph transport cost, able to capture long-range and implicit node dependencies beyond the local graph structure. Furthermore, \texttt{GlobAlign-E} successfully closes the time complexity gap between representative embedding and OT-based methods, reducing OT's cubic complexity to quadratic terms. Through extensive experiments, our methods demonstrate superior performance, with up to a 20\% accuracy improvement over the best competitor. Meanwhile, \texttt{GlobAlign-E} achieves the best efficiency, with an order of magnitude speedup against existing OT-based methods.
