The Effectiveness of Digital Intervention on Psychological Resilience in Postoperative Breast Cancer Patients During Chemotherapy Intervals: Quasi-Experimental Study

Background: Patients with breast cancer during postoperative chemotherapy intervals commonly experience psychological distress and reduced resilience while recovering at home. Digital mindfulness interventions may provide accessible psychological support during this vulnerable period; however, evidence regarding tailored interventions for postoperative patients with breast cancer during chemotherapy intervals remains limited. Objective: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a digital intervention on psychological resilience in postoperative patients with breast cancer during chemotherapy intervals. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with repeated measures was conducted from October 2021 to June 2022. A total of 80 eligible participants were recruited from the Department of Breast Surgery at a tertiary hospital in Zhejiang Province, China, and 71 completed the study. The control group received routine discharge instructions and nursing follow-ups, whereas the intervention group additionally received an 8-week digital psychological resilience intervention. Outcomes were assessed at baseline (T0), 3 months post intervention (T1), and 6 months post intervention (T2). The measures included the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS), Breast Cancer Survivor Self-Efficacy Scale (BCSSS), and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast (FACT-B). Independent-samples tests, chi-square tests, and repeated-measures ANOVA were performed using SPSS (version 26.0; IBM Corp). Results: No statistically significant baseline differences were observed between the two groups in the outcome measures. At T1, the intervention group had higher CD-RISC scores than the control group (mean 67.58, SD 11.41 vs mean 62.09, SD 10.18; =.036) and higher BCSSS scores (mean 42.36, SD 3.59 vs mean 39.23, SD 4.90; =.003). However, these between-group differences were no longer statistically significant at T2 (>.05). Significant time effects and group×time interaction effects were observed for both psychological resilience and self-efficacy (.05), although both scales showed significant time effects (

Social Media Intervention Based on the Information-Motivation-Behavioral Skills Model Promotes HIV Testing and Reduces High-Risk Behaviors Among Men Who Have Sex With Men in Resource-Limited Settings in China: Randomized Controlled Trial

Background: Social media intervention may enhance HIV prevention among men who have sex with men, but the effect of this intervention in resource-limited settings remains unclear. Objective: This randomized controlled trial evaluated whether a social media intervention grounded in the information-motivation-behavioral skills (IMB) model could be beneficial for HIV prevention among men who have sex with men in resource-limited settings. Methods: Participants were recruited in Nanning, China, between April 2023 and April 2024. Eligible participants were randomly assigned to either the social media intervention group or the routine HIV prevention services control group. Participants in the intervention group received a 3-month social media intervention, which included completing video-based tasks. Baseline surveys were conducted, followed by follow-up surveys every 3 months, for a total of 2 follow-ups. Outcomes included HIV testing uptake, high-risk behavior, AIDS-related knowledge, safe sex self-efficacy, and attitude. Results: A total of 180 eligible men who have sex with men were enrolled (90 per group). Follow-up rates were 97.8% (88/90) and 95.5% (86/90) for the intervention and control groups, respectively. At the follow-ups, the intervention group demonstrated significantly higher uptake of HIV testing, a lower proportion of participants reporting high-risk sexual behaviors, and higher condom use self-efficacy compared to the control group (all

Suicidal Thoughts and Behaviors Among Chinese Adolescents in Relation to Negative Life Events, Internet Addiction, and Sexual Abuse: Cross-Sectional Study

Background: Increasing suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STB) among adolescents raise social concerns and have a well-recognized association with sexual abuse (SA). However, research regarding the mechanisms explaining the association between SA and STB remains limited. Objective: This study aims to examine the chained mediating effects of negative life events (NLE) and internet addiction (IA) between SA and STB among adolescents in China. Methods: This cross-sectional study used data from the Science Database of the People Mental Health survey conducted between March 2013 and December 2022 by the National Population Health Data Center of the National Research Institute for Family Planning. Through stratified sampling, 20,893 adolescents were recruited from 16 Chinese provinces. After excluding samples with missing relevant variables, 10,664 (55.89%; aged 16-17.9 y; n=5826, 54.63% women) adolescents were included in the final analysis. STB was the outcome variable, with NLE and IA as mediators, all assessed via a questionnaire that was uniformly administered by trained investigators in school settings. The Pearson χ test was used to analyze the association between SA and STB. Using a combination of multiple linear regression and bootstrap testing, the study constructed a chain mediation model to explore how SA influences STB in adolescents through NLE and IA. Results: The scores for SA, NLE, IA, and STB were 1.330 (SD 1.714), 51.960 (SD 23.822), 34.88 (SD 13.852), and 0.690 (SD 1.396), respectively. Multiple linear regression analysis indicated SA was associated with NLE (β=2.382, 95% CI 2.112‐2.653;
