Narrative Weaver: Towards Controllable Long-Range Visual Consistency with Multi-Modal Conditioning

arXiv:2603.06688v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: We present "Narrative Weaver", a novel framework that addresses a fundamental challenge in generative AI: achieving multi-modal controllable, long-range, and consistent visual content generation. While existing models excel at generating high-fidelity short-form visual content, they struggle to maintain narrative coherence and visual consistency across extended sequences - a critical limitation for real-world applications such as filmmaking and e-commerce advertising. Narrative Weaver introduces the first holistic solution that seamlessly integrates three essential capabilities: fine-grained control, automatic narrative planning, and long-range coherence. Our architecture combines a Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM) for high-level narrative planning with a novel fine-grained control module featuring a dynamic Memory Bank that prevents visual drift. To enable practical deployment, we develop a progressive, multi-stage training strategy that efficiently leverages existing pre-trained models, achieving state-of-the-art performance even with limited training data. Recognizing the absence of suitable evaluation benchmarks, we construct and release the E-commerce Advertising Video Storyboard Dataset (EAVSD) - the first comprehensive dataset for this task, containing over 330K high-quality images with rich narrative annotations. Through extensive experiments across three distinct scenarios (controllable multi-scene generation, autonomous storytelling, and e-commerce advertising), we demonstrate our method's superiority while opening new possibilities for AI-driven content creation.

Separators in Enhancing Autoregressive Pretraining for Vision Mamba

arXiv:2603.03806v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: The state space model Mamba has recently emerged as a promising paradigm in computer vision, attracting significant attention due to its efficient processing of long sequence tasks. Mamba's inherent causal mechanism renders it particularly suitable for autoregressive pretraining. However, current autoregressive pretraining methods are constrained to short sequence tasks, failing to fully exploit Mamba's prowess in handling extended sequences. To address this limitation, we introduce an innovative autoregressive pretraining method for Vision Mamba that substantially extends the input sequence length. We introduce new \textbf{S}epara\textbf{T}ors for \textbf{A}uto\textbf{R}egressive pretraining to demarcate and differentiate between different images, known as \textbf{STAR}. Specifically, we insert identical separators before each image to demarcate its inception. This strategy enables us to quadruple the input sequence length of Vision Mamba while preserving the original dimensions of the dataset images. Employing this long sequence pretraining technique, our STAR-B model achieved an impressive accuracy of 83.5\% on ImageNet-1k, which is highly competitive in Vision Mamba. These results underscore the potential of our method in enhancing the performance of vision models through improved leveraging of long-range dependencies.

IDER: IDempotent Experience Replay for Reliable Continual Learning

arXiv:2603.00624v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Catastrophic forgetting, the tendency of neural networks to forget previously learned knowledge when learning new tasks, has been a major challenge in continual learning (CL). To tackle this challenge, CL methods have been proposed and shown to reduce forgetting. Furthermore, CL models deployed in mission-critical settings can benefit from uncertainty awareness by calibrating their predictions to reliably assess their confidences. However, existing uncertainty-aware continual learning methods suffer from high computational overhead and incompatibility with mainstream replay methods. To address this, we propose idempotent experience replay (IDER), a novel approach based on the idempotent property where repeated function applications yield the same output. Specifically, we first adapt the training loss to make model idempotent on current data streams. In addition, we introduce an idempotence distillation loss. We feed the output of the current model back into the old checkpoint and then minimize the distance between this reprocessed output and the original output of the current model. This yields a simple and effective new baseline for building reliable continual learners, which can be seamlessly integrated with other CL approaches. Extensive experiments on different CL benchmarks demonstrate that IDER consistently improves prediction reliability while simultaneously boosting accuracy and reducing forgetting. Our results suggest the potential of idempotence as a promising principle for deploying efficient and trustworthy continual learning systems in real-world applications. Our code is available at https://github.com/YutingLi0606/Idempotent-Continual-Learning.

Learn by Reasoning: Analogical Weight Generation for Few-Shot Class-Incremental Learning

arXiv:2503.21258v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Few-shot class-incremental Learning (FSCIL) enables models to learn new classes from limited data while retaining performance on previously learned classes. Traditional FSCIL methods often require fine-tuning parameters with limited new class data and suffer from a separation between learning new classes and utilizing old knowledge. Inspired by the analogical learning mechanisms of the human brain, we propose a novel analogical generative method. Our approach includes the Brain-Inspired Analogical Generator (BiAG), which derives new class weights from existing classes without parameter fine-tuning during incremental stages. BiAG consists of three components: Weight Self-Attention Module (WSA), Weight & Prototype Analogical Attention Module (WPAA), and Semantic Conversion Module (SCM). SCM uses Neural Collapse theory for semantic conversion, WSA supplements new class weights, and WPAA computes analogies to generate new class weights. Experiments on miniImageNet, CUB-200, and CIFAR-100 datasets demonstrate that our method achieves higher final and average accuracy compared to SOTA methods.

Foundation Models in Autonomous Driving: A Survey on Scenario Generation and Scenario Analysis

arXiv:2506.11526v4 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: For autonomous vehicles, safe navigation in complex environments depends on handling a broad range of diverse and rare driving scenarios. Simulation- and scenario-based testing have emerged as key approaches to development and validation of autonomous driving systems. Traditional scenario generation relies on rule-based systems, knowledge-driven models, and data-driven synthesis, often producing limited diversity and unrealistic safety-critical cases. With the emergence of foundation models, which represent a new generation of pre-trained, general-purpose AI models, developers can process heterogeneous inputs (e.g., natural language, sensor data, HD maps, and control actions), enabling the synthesis and interpretation of complex driving scenarios. In this paper, we conduct a survey about the application of foundation models for scenario generation and scenario analysis in autonomous driving (as of May 2025). Our survey presents a unified taxonomy that includes large language models, vision-language models, multimodal large language models, diffusion models, and world models for the generation and analysis of autonomous driving scenarios. In addition, we review the methodologies, open-source datasets, simulation platforms, and benchmark challenges, and we examine the evaluation metrics tailored explicitly to scenario generation and analysis. Finally, the survey concludes by highlighting the open challenges and research questions, and outlining promising future research directions. All reviewed papers are listed in a continuously maintained repository, which contains supplementary materials and is available at https://github.com/TUM-AVS/FM-for-Scenario-Generation-Analysis.
