PRAISE: Prefix-Based Rollout Reuse in Agentic Search Training

arXiv:2604.03675v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: In agentic search, large language models (LLMs) are trained to perform multi-turn retrieval and reasoning for complex tasks such as multi-hop question answering (QA). However, current search-based Reinforcement Learning (RL) methods suffer from two core limitations: expensive long-horizon rollouts are under-utilized during training, and supervision is typically available only at the final answer, resulting in severe reward sparsity. We present Prefix-based Rollout reuse for Agentic search with Intermediate Step rEwards (PRAISE), a framework for improving both data efficiency and credit assignment in agentic search training. Given a complete search trajectory, PRAISE extracts prefix states at different search turns, elicits intermediate answers from them, and uses these prefixes both to construct additional training trajectories and to derive step-level rewards from performance differences across prefixes. Our method uses a single shared model for both search policy learning and prefix answer evaluation, enabling joint optimization without extra human annotations or a separate reward model. Experiments on multi-hop QA benchmarks show that PRAISE consistently improves performance over strong baselines.

3D-IDE: 3D Implicit Depth Emergent

arXiv:2604.03296v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Leveraging 3D information within Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) has recently shown significant advantages for indoor scene understanding. However, existing methods, including those using explicit ground-truth 3D positional encoding and those grafting external 3D foundation models for implicit geometry, struggle with the trade-off in 2D-3D representation fusion, leading to suboptimal deployment. To this end, we propose 3D-Implicit Depth Emergence, a method that reframes 3D perception as an emergent property derived from geometric self-supervision rather than explicit encoding. Our core insight is the Implicit Geometric Emergence Principle: by strategically leveraging privileged geometric supervision through mechanisms like a fine-grained geometry validator and global representation constraints, we construct an information bottleneck. This bottleneck forces the model to maximize the mutual information between visual features and 3D structures, allowing 3D awareness to emerge naturally within a unified visual representation. Unlike existing approaches, our method enables 3D perception to emerge implicitly, disentangling features in dense regions and, crucially, eliminating depth and pose dependencies during inference with zero latency overhead. This paradigm shift from external grafting to implicit emergence represents a fundamental rethinking of 3D knowledge integration in visual-language models. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method surpasses SOTA on multiple 3D scene understanding benchmarks. Our approach achieves a 55% reduction in inference latency while maintaining strong performance across diverse downstream tasks, underscoring the effectiveness of meticulously designed auxiliary objectives for dependency-free 3D understanding. HISA: Efficient Hierarchical Indexing for Fine-Grained Sparse Attention

arXiv:2603.28458v3 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Token-level sparse attention mechanisms, exemplified by DeepSeek Sparse Attention (DSA), achieve fine-grained key selection by scoring every historical key for each query through a lightweight indexer, then computing attention only on the selected subset. While the downstream sparse attention itself scales favorably, the indexer must still scan the entire prefix for every query, introducing an per-layer bottleneck that grows prohibitively with context length. We propose HISA (Hierarchical Indexed Sparse Attention), a plug-and-play replacement for the indexer that rewrites the search path from a flat token scan into a two-stage hierarchical procedure: (1) a block-level coarse filtering stage that scores pooled block representations to discard irrelevant regions, followed by (2) a token-level refinement stage that applies the original indexer exclusively within the retained candidate blocks. HISA preserves the identical token-level top-sparse pattern consumed by the downstream Sparse MLA operator and requires no additional training. On kernel-level benchmarks, HISA achieves up to speedup at 64K context. On Needle-in-a-Haystack and LongBench, we directly replace the indexer in DeepSeek-V3.2 and GLM-5 with our HISA indexer, without any finetuning. HISA closely matches the original DSA in quality, while substantially outperforming block-sparse baselines.

IMPASTO: Integrating Model-Based Planning with Learned Dynamics Models for Robotic Oil Painting Reproduction

arXiv:2603.29315v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Robotic reproduction of oil paintings using soft brushes and pigments requires force-sensitive control of deformable tools, prediction of brushstroke effects, and multi-step stroke planning, often without human step-by-step demonstrations or faithful simulators. Given only a sequence of target oil painting images, can a robot infer and execute the stroke trajectories, forces, and colors needed to reproduce it? We present IMPASTO, a robotic oil-painting system that integrates learned pixel dynamics models with model-based planning. The dynamics models predict canvas updates from image observations and parameterized stroke actions; a receding-horizon model predictive control optimizer then plans trajectories and forces, while a force-sensitive controller executes strokes on a 7-DoF robot arm. IMPASTO integrates low-level force control, learned dynamics models, and high-level closed-loop planning, learns solely from robot self-play, and approximates human artists' single-stroke datasets and multi-stroke artworks, outperforming baselines in reproduction accuracy. Balancing Efficiency and Empathy: Healthcare Providers' Perspectives on AI-Supported Workflows for Serious Illness Conversations in the Emergency Department

arXiv:2506.00241v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Serious Illness Conversations (SICs), discussions about values and care preferences for patients with life-threatening illness, rarely occur in Emergency Departments (EDs), despite evidence that early conversations improve care alignment and reduce unnecessary interventions. We interviewed 11 ED providers to identify challenges in SICs and opportunities for technology support, with a focus on AI. Our analysis revealed a four-stage SIC workflow (identification, preparation, conduction, documentation) and barriers at each stage, including fragmented patient information, limited time and space, lack of conversational guidance, and burdensome documentation. Providers expressed interest in AI systems for synthesizing information, supporting real-time conversations, and automating documentation, but emphasized concerns about preserving human connection and clinical autonomy. This tension highlights the need for technologies that enhance efficiency without undermining the interpersonal nature of SICs. We propose design guidelines for ambient and peripheral AI systems to support providers while preserving the essential humanity of these conversations.

Robot-Assisted Therapy for Upper Limb Rehabilitation After Stroke: Umbrella Review

Background: Stroke is a leading cause of long-term upper limb disability, severely impacting patients’ independence and quality of life. Robot-assisted therapy (RAT) has emerged as a promising, high-intensity rehabilitation alternative. However, conclusions from existing systematic reviews on its efficacy are inconsistent and often lack a holistic framework, limiting their use for guiding personalized clinical decisions. Objective: This study aims to systematically synthesize recent evidence on RAT for upper limb rehabilitation after stroke. Guided by the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health framework, it moves beyond singular outcomes to provide a multidimensional evaluation across body function, activity, and participation levels. The review aims to provide stratified guidance for clinical decision-making based on patient- and intervention-specific characteristics, thereby supporting evidence-based practice and informing future research. Methods: This study included systematic reviews and meta-analyses published from January 1, 2019, to December 26, 2025, comparing RAT with conventional therapy for upper limb rehabilitation after stroke. Overall, 6 databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase, were searched. Two reviewers (XZ and LZ) independently performed study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment using the AMSTAR 2 tool. The synthesis integrated outcome measures and subgroup analyses derived from the included studies. Results: This umbrella review included 21 meta-analyses encompassing 535 randomized controlled trials and 27,598 patients across acute, subacute, and chronic stroke stages. According to AMSTAR 2, 17 reviews were high quality, 3 moderate, and 1 critically low. The synthesis demonstrated that RAT was superior in improving upper limb motor function, but no statistically significant advantages were observed in activities of daily living compared to conventional therapy. Subgroup analyses revealed that treatment effects were influenced by stroke stage, upper limb motor impairment level, and robot type. Conclusions: RAT is an effective intervention for improving upper limb motor function after stroke. However, its benefits are primarily observed at the level of body function, with limited evidence for long-term maintenance. The current evidence is constrained by significant outcome heterogeneity and methodological limitations inherent to umbrella reviews. Future research should validate these findings in broader clinical practice, focus on translating functional gains into sustained improvements in daily activities and participation, and include cost-effectiveness evaluations. Children's Intelligence Tests Pose Challenges for MLLMs? KidGym: A 2D Grid-Based Reasoning Benchmark for MLLMs

arXiv:2603.20209v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) combine the linguistic strengths of LLMs with the ability to process multimodal data, enbaling them to address a broader range of visual tasks. Because MLLMs aim at more general, human-like competence than language-only models, we take inspiration from the Wechsler Intelligence Scales - an established battery for evaluating children by decomposing intelligence into interpretable, testable abilities. We introduce KidGym, a comprehensive 2D grid-based benchmark for assessing five essential capabilities of MLLMs: Execution, Perception Reasoning, Learning, Memory and Planning. The benchmark comprises 12 unique tasks, each targeting at least one core capability, specifically designed to guage MLLMs' adaptability and developmental potential, mirroring the stages of children's cognitive growth. Additionally, our tasks encompass diverse scenarios and objects with randomly generated layouts, ensuring a more accurate and robust evluation of MLLM capabilities. KidGym is designed to be fully user-customizable and extensible, allowing researchers to create new evaluation scenarios and adjust difficuly levels to accommodate the rapidly growing MLLM community. Through the evaluation of state-of-the-art MLLMs using KidGym, we identified significant insights into model capabilities and revealed several limitations of current models. We release our benchmark at: https://bobo-ye.github.io/KidGym/.

Extracellular Vesicles in Osteosarcoma: Mechanisms, Diagnostics and Therapeutic Applications

Drug Des Devel Ther. 2026 Jan 6;20:565059. doi: 10.2147/DDDT.S565059. eCollection 2026.

ABSTRACT

Osteosarcoma is a primary bone malignancy of adolescents and young adults with marked heterogeneity and a high metastatic propensity. Five-year survival exceeds 70% in localized disease but falls to about 20% with pulmonary metastasis or chemoresistance, and overall outcomes have plateaued for decades. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have emerged as critical mediators of osteosarcoma progression and metastasis. EVs remodel the tumor microenvironment (TME) by promoting immune evasion, extracellular matrix reprogramming, and angiogenesis, while also facilitating invasion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-like plasticity, and formation of lung pre-metastatic niches through organotropic integrins and glycoproteins. Their cargo, including proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids, drives intercellular communication that sustains proliferation, migration, and therapy resistance under metabolic or hypoxic stress. Clinically, the stability of EVs in body fluids and their tumor-specific molecular signatures highlight their promise as liquid-biopsy biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment monitoring. Therapeutically, EVs are being engineered as delivery vehicles for drugs or RNA therapeutics, and interventions targeting their biogenesis, cargo sorting, or uptake are under exploration. Future research should integrate single-EV multi-omics, longitudinal cohort validation, and causal perturbation models to delineate functional mechanisms. Rational strategies that modulate EV dynamics and incorporate standardized analytic pipelines may transform EVs into actionable biomarkers and therapeutic targets, offering new avenues to overcome resistance and improve clinical outcomes in osteosarcoma.

ARLArena: A Unified Framework for Stable Agentic Reinforcement Learning

arXiv:2602.21534v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Agentic reinforcement learning (ARL) has rapidly gained attention as a promising paradigm for training agents to solve complex, multi-step interactive tasks. Despite encouraging early results, ARL remains highly unstable, often leading to training collapse. This instability limits scalability to larger environments and longer interaction horizons, and constrains systematic exploration of algorithmic design choices. In this paper, we first propose ARLArena, a stable training recipe and systematic analysis framework that examines training stability in a controlled and reproducible setting. ARLArena first constructs a clean and standardized testbed. Then, we decompose policy gradient into four core design dimensions and assess the performance and stability of each dimension. Through this fine-grained analysis, we distill a unified perspective on ARL and propose SAMPO, a stable agentic policy optimization method designed to mitigate the dominant sources of instability in ARL. Empirically, SAMPO achieves consistently stable training and strong performance across diverse agentic tasks. Overall, this study provides a unifying policy gradient perspective for ARL and offers practical guidance for building stable and reproducible LLM-based agent training pipelines.

OCN: Effectively Utilizing Higher-Order Common Neighbors for Better Link Prediction

arXiv:2505.19719v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Common Neighbors (CNs) and their higher-order variants are important pairwise features widely used in state-of-the-art link prediction methods. However, existing methods often struggle with the repetition across different orders of CNs and fail to fully leverage their potential. We identify that these limitations stem from two key issues: redundancy and over-smoothing in high-order common neighbors. To address these challenges, we design orthogonalization to eliminate redundancy between different-order CNs and normalization to mitigate over-smoothing. By combining these two techniques, we propose Orthogonal Common Neighbor (OCN), a novel approach that significantly outperforms the strongest baselines by an average of 7.7\% on popular link prediction benchmarks. A thorough theoretical analysis is provided to support our method. Ablation studies also verify the effectiveness of our orthogonalization and normalization techniques. UnfoldLDM: Deep Unfolding-based Blind Image Restoration with Latent Diffusion Priors

arXiv:2511.18152v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Deep unfolding networks (DUNs) combine the interpretability of model-based methods with the learning ability of deep networks, yet remain limited for blind image restoration (BIR). Existing DUNs suffer from: (1) \textbf{Degradation-specific dependency}, as their optimization frameworks are tied to a known degradation model, making them unsuitable for BIR tasks; and (2) \textbf{Over-smoothing bias}, resulting from the direct feeding of gradient descent outputs, dominated by low-frequency content, into the proximal term, suppressing fine textures. To overcome these issues, we propose UnfoldLDM to integrate DUNs with latent diffusion model (LDM) for BIR. In each stage, UnfoldLDM employs a multi-granularity degradation-aware (MGDA) module as the gradient descent step. MGDA models BIR as an unknown degradation estimation problem and estimates both the holistic degradation matrix and its decomposed forms, enabling robust degradation removal. For the proximal step, we design a degradation-resistant LDM (DR-LDM) to extract compact degradation-invariant priors from the MGDA output. Guided by this prior, an over-smoothing correction transformer (OCFormer) explicitly recovers high-frequency components and enhances texture details. This unique combination ensures the final result is degradation-free and visually rich. Experiments show that our UnfoldLDM achieves a leading place on various BIR tasks and benefits downstream tasks. Moreover, our design is compatible with existing DUN-based methods, serving as a plug-and-play framework. Code will be released.

Relational In-Context Learning via Synthetic Pre-training with Structural Prior

arXiv:2603.03805v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Relational Databases (RDBs) are the backbone of modern business, yet they lack foundation models comparable to those in text or vision. A key obstacle is that high-quality RDBs are private, scarce and structurally heterogeneous, making internet-scale pre-training infeasible. To overcome this data scarcity, We introduce $\textbf{RDB-PFN}$, the first relational foundation model trained purely via $\textbf{synthetic data}$. Inspired by Prior-Data Fitted Networks (PFNs) where synthetic data generated from Structural Causal Models (SCMs) enables reasoning on single tables, we design a $\textbf{Relational Prior Generator}$ to create an infinite stream of diverse RDBs from scratch. Pre-training on $\textbf{over 2 million}$ synthetic single-table and relational tasks, RDB-PFN learns to adapt to any new database instantly via genuine $\textbf{in-context learning}$. Experiments verify RDB-PFN achieves strong few-shot performance on 19 real-world relational prediction tasks, outperforming graph-based and single-table foundation-model baselines (given the same DFS-linearized inputs), while using a lightweight architecture and fast inference. The code is available at https://github.com/MuLabPKU/RDBPFN

VITA: Vision-to-Action Flow Matching Policy

arXiv:2507.13231v4 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Conventional flow matching and diffusion-based policies sample via iterative denoising from standard noise distributions (e.g., Gaussian), and require conditioning modules to repeatedly incorporate visual information during the generative process, incurring substantial time and memory overhead. To reduce the complexity, we develop VITA, VIsion-To-Action policy, a noise-free and conditioning-free flow matching policy learning framework that directly flows from visual representations to latent actions. Since the source of the flow is visually grounded, VITA eliminates the need for visual conditioning during generation. As expected, bridging vision and action is challenging, because actions are lower-dimensional, less structured, and sparser than visual representations; moreover, flow matching requires the source and target to have the same dimensionality. To overcome this, we introduce an action autoencoder that maps raw actions into a structured latent space aligned with visual latents, trained jointly with flow matching. To further prevent latent action space collapse during end-to-end training, we propose flow latent decoding, which anchors the latent generation process by backpropagating the action reconstruction loss through the flow matching ODE (ordinary differential equation) solving steps. We evaluate VITA on 9 simulation and 5 real-world tasks from ALOHA and Robomimic. VITA achieves 1.5x-2x faster inference compared to conventional methods with conditioning modules, while outperforming or matching state-of-the-art policies.
